Seasons of Friendship

This article was originally written in March of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

The Bible says there is a season for everything, and that includes certain friendships. Not everyone is meant to be your friend forever. There are a few telltale signs that the friend you have is there for life—or needs to stay out of your life.

We get so wrapped up in finding BFFs and simply wanting to fit in that we let a lot of things slide. We also let great people go when the relationship hits a rocky path. It’s important for anyone to have an inner circle they can trust, and how much more important is it for us Christians? We must surround ourselves with like-minded individuals and be the type of friend who will uphold our personal values. Continue reading “Seasons of Friendship”

I met Arielle after hearing her perform spoken word at an event a few months ago. To say I was speechless is an understatement. As she came in for a hug, I commented on how humble, sweet, and approachable she was. She replied “I’m not really familiar with what a “stranger” is. I don’t know what that looks like.” I’ve never heard someone describe themselves that way before, but immediately God told me that the way she was created was to give others a sense of “home”. I agree. Her poetry and personality is comforting and validating at the same time. What she’s embarking on as an artist and truth seeker has already started a movement, and I’m totally on board. If you’re free THIS Saturday April 2nd, you can attend her EP Release party for “Symphony of Lioness”. More details here. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Arielle Estoria”

Falling on Deaf Ears

I remember years ago sitting outside of a burger place and enjoying the sunset with my husband. Moments later, the wind carried over the conversation of two young women sitting a few feet away. With heavy sighs, they described their friend who was battling depression. Unfortunately, I could sense their annoyance as they recounted his unquestionable cries for help. I immediately felt nervous thinking of how I could interject myself into their back-and-forth. At the time, I was working with an organization that hosted events as well as an online community for those who were dealing with spiritual oppression and suicidal thoughts.

“That’s why I’m here!” I thought to myself. I happened to have the organization’s business card with me, so when the young women got up to leave I told them how I overheard them saying their friend was dealing with depression. With the business card extended their way, I added that there was a site he could go to for help. They quickly declined my offer because “No thank you. We don’t live out here.” I reminded them that it was an online community and they responded “That’s okay. We already have a church.” It was as if they couldn’t hear the words coming out of my mouth, and I was stunned that my efforts to help their friend had fallen on deaf ears. As they walked away, I felt angry and offended. I muttered under my breath “Wow, I’m glad I’m not your friend. Too bad for him.” Continue reading “Falling on Deaf Ears”

What does it mean to be real? To be aspiring? To be a woman? Melissa Ingram knows the definition of R.A.W. and it set on sharing it with the world. As a victim of childhood abuse, you would think it would be impossible for her to turn her insecurities into a career that–let’s be honest–expects perfection. Modeling was a true leap of faith, but the story the enemy wrote for her was re-written by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Follow her blog as she shares the innermost corners of her heart all while developing a brand and helping plan a fashion show that raises awareness for organizations that fight for the freedom of victims of human trafficking and global poverty. Fashion Friday: Girls with Short Hair

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

It doesn’t matter what your hair color or texture is, you can find a short haircut that works for you. We love the various styles we’ve seen across the internet and fashion magazines. Hopefully seeing these examples will give you the courage to switch up your style if you’ve been hesitant to do so, but would really like to experiment with shorter locks. You can also spare the scissors and purchase a wig for your days where you’re feeling fearless and fancy. Have you ever chopped it all off?

Where is Your Treasure?

This article was originally written in October of 2015 for Get. Give. Grow., a website that discusses the fundamentals of business and everyday life with God . Thank you for reading!

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:34)

It’s easy to live an unbalanced life. Most of us don’t have someone hovering over our shoulder telling us where our time belongs. It wasn’t until I had a baby that I was forced to slow down and focus my attention on the things that really mattered. For a while family was on the back burner because I had so much work to do for God, and I could not be bothered. Surely they would still be there for me when all was said and done, right? Take it from me, you can easily burn a lot of bridges while you’re “getting stuff done” and living your life like it’s golden.

Dan and Rachel Mark have been a part of a global movement that has taken social media and the church by storm. What started out in Los Angeles grew to several other major cities before combining their efforts to create OurWitnessI’ve had the pleasure of writing more than a few pieces for their website, and it really kickstarted my need to get testimonies to a wider audience and to share the gospel with others through any medium I could. L’amour In Christ has come to be in existence thanks to websites like Our Witness and the steady impact they have on the globe. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with OurWitness”
