I remember the first time I had one of Amber’s peanut butter cookies, and it was the first time I ever said “Oh my gosh! This is so good and chewy!”about a peanut butter cookie. I’m not usually a fan of peanut butter cookies because most of the ones I’ve had in the past tend to be a little dry. I don’t know what her secret ingredient is, but all of her baked goods leave you craving for more. I think she’s got an advantage having a live in taste tester as a husband. Lol. Recently, she’s ventured into cookie cakes–which are no easy feat!–and they are just as good, if not better, than her individual cookies. Place your order with her today if you’ve got a sweet tooth in need of a baked good. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Amber’s Cookie Cakes”

Long Distance Relationships: How We Made It Work

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from the other. (Genesis 31:49)

Years ago, I excitedly told my coworker that I was going to visit my then boyfriend (now husband), and he asked me where my boyfriend lived. I explained that he lived in California, and this elicited an eyebrow raise accompanied by a smirk that showed me he thought I was naive. He went on to say, “Long-distance relationships don’t work, but whatever floats your boat.”

Well, that relationship worked out and we’ve been married for almost six years. There is a stigma that comes with long-distance relationships, and I even promised myself I would never have one. I can tell you now with conviction that it’s possible and can be wonderful despite the disadvantages. Promo Tuesday with College Church Connection

Promo Tuesdays is where we highlight our brothers and sisters who are moving through ministry and small business while spreading the gospel as the Lord leads. Please support them by checking out their website and social media.

In March of 2016, my husband was hired to produce the awesome animation you see above. Before that, I had never heard of College Church Connection. I never really knew such organizations existed. When you look at the stats, it really is disturbing to see how many college freshmen who grew up in Christian households end up wavering in their faith pretty quickly because they don’t have a community at school that looks highly on their lifestyle. How many of you felt very pressured to “live it up” and forget everything you knew growing up once you set your foot on a college campus? It’s all too familiar and I’m glad there’s a growing solution to that problem. To learn more about what they’re up to, you can keep up with them here. When Should You Move on From Your Crush?

This article was originally written in September of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Be strong, and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD. (Psalm 31:24)

I think many people fail to understand how emotionally invested teen girls and young 20-somethings are when it comes to dating. Simply forgetting about a guy isn’t so easy to do, depending on how long you’ve liked him or how close you two have been. I’ve had crushes that ranged from a few weeks up to a few years. I’m talking a “Dear Diary, my heart is breaking! Why doesn’t he like me?” type of thing. I’m sure we’ve all been there.

Although I don’t personally believe dating is necessary until you’re entering a life stage where you are marriage-minded, I know most of you are hoping to have a relationship soon. I’d like to share some tips on who to avoid in the meantime. I’ll also briefly describe what you can do to get through the tough task of moving on. I found out about A21 on social media when someone shared about a human trafficking victim that was saved through their efforts. Seeing these stories pop up in the news feed and knowing that these are humans being saved all over the globe makes you want to yell “Praise God!” every time. The statistics on human trafficking are disturbing, and it’s easy to feel hopeless by such a widespread problem. However, companies like this–and the unfortunate victims–deserve your attention. Follow along to see the good work The Lord is doing through them and how you can help. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with A21”

Whether you were born with them or not, nowadays anyone can get curls in their hair. There are countless styles you can do with curly hair, and we personally love how they pop when they have different hues of colors in them. Are you a fan of curls? If so, what’s your favorite way to style them?

Is God Trying to Get Your Attention?

This article was originally written in April of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

When I first found my home church, I wanted to be involved in everything 100 percent. I went to service on Sundays, had my small group meetings in the middle of the week, helped edit videos for the service, joined the dance team, volunteered my acting skills in the performing arts ministry and was about to join the choir. Is that calendar making your head spin or what?

Our overworked and overly busy society that takes pride in a full and color-coded calendar app has infiltrated the way we have church. It almost becomes more about the building than the body of Christ. Let’s make sure that our efforts of serving our Heavenly Father are balanced and coming from the right place.
