Fashion Friday: Men’s Athleisure Style

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

Style is constantly evolving, and it’s inspiring to see different trends that allow us to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Men used to have it easier with very limited amounts of fashion items and combinations. Now it’s more common to have guys all across the globe competing for attention in their head-turning threads. Which look is your favorite?

Your First Letter

Dearest Little One,

What words can we use to express our love for you?  The best we can do is scramble imperfect fragments to loosely articulate something of value.  We wanted our words to be the first human thing addressed to you.  We realize that if we do not address you, everything else will.

The world that you are coming into has a way of competing for everything that is precious.  And you, little one, are our most precious prize.  The world will compete for your attention.  It will long for your affection.  When it does not receive your undying loyalty, it will move on to people that waiver.  You may then feel left out and find yourself wishing to be like everyone else.  This is normal.  We will work through it. screen-shot-2017-03-02-at-1-54-18-amWhen I booked the photoshoot for G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls after seeing the casting on Pink Couch Girl, I did what any normal adult would do: I Instagram stalked her co-director Seyi Famuyiwa. I remember telling Seyi when I submitted to be a model that–if nothing else–I’m so glad to see women of faith using their platform of fashion and content creating to spread the gospel. To me, that’s really all that matters in life and it’s comforting to see others that are of the same mindset. Going through her feed and reading her blog, I understood why these two had been chosen to organize the shoot. Her taste is impeccable and I’ve learned a few things about navigating social media from seeing how she cultivates her brand and online community. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself.

Fashion Friday: False Lashes

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

You don’t have to be a beauty guru to apply your own false lashes. You may want something simple that looks like you grew them yourself, or something more dramatic that fans the air every time you blink. Okay, we know that’s an exaggeration. Lol. These beauties may give you some inspo the next time you’re headed out with a full face of makeup on.

Trust in Trying Times

Trust, it’s something I would have told a younger me and something I have to remind myself constantly to do.  Trusting in God is simply obedience in action.

This past year has been a flood of emotions from the ever horrific and tragic news filling my feeds right alongside the sweet birth of my first born and all her very first moments these past 12 months.

MY PROCLIVITY

I am the type of person that can easily spiral down into deep sadness.  My proclivity is to feel deeply which is why I often turn inward to my thoughts of the depravity of man and feelings of hopelessness wash over me if I allow these thoughts to take up residence in my mind and heart. My latest hobby is browsing through fashion blogger Instagram accounts. My favorites are the ones that have a pleasing color scheme, balanced images, and a common theme. When I came upon Pink Couch Girl, I was immediately impressed and clicked “Follow” with the quickness. It’s no wonder she actually has a course on how to get your Instagram feed in order. Days later, she posted that she would be co-creative directing a photoshoot for G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls. I was excited that I booked the shoot and would get to meet her in person. Her name is very fitting for her because Dr. Peace Amadi is one of the most calm under pressure people I’ve ever worked with. (Us creative types can usually get very frazzled very quickly!) Whenever I see her posts, I always know there’s a helpful nugget of wisdom in the description because she takes her platform and influence seriously. Get to know her and let her know I sent you. Fashion Friday: Winter White

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

It may not snow where you live, but you can still see white with winter fashion. If you’re used to donning the usual dark colors of the season, we’d like to persuade you to try some fabulous white outfits. Purchasing some outerwear will give you plenty of options for great ensembles when you’re walking through town in the brisk air.

Bon Voyage: A Step of Faith

If you’ve been following our journey on Instagram you may have noticed a stream of Instastories featuring our travel in France.  This may be one of our biggest leaps of faith lived out from years of prayer.  In 2007 I began to learn about one of the world’s largest injustices, human trafficking.  It literally stopped my heart in its tracks to witness such a huge devastation to mankind.  As a member of humanity I simply couldn’t continue life knowing this was taking place on the very soil I walked on.  I had to get involved with my best efforts.  My best, at the time, was on canvas.  My husband and I created art to help bring awareness and drive funds to an organization that is directly helping rescue women and children out of trafficking.

As 2014 rolled around we began cultivating a brand I had always dreamed of bringing to life, ShopStickyRice.com  Continue reading “Bon Voyage: A Step of Faith”

Have you ever met someone and knew almost immediately that they were a world changer, and a force that wouldn’t let anyone or anything stand in their way? I felt this way upon my first encounter with Melinda Watts, the founder of G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls. I saw a model call for a photoshoot that was associated with this ministry and the Lord immediately said to submit my photo to them. It’s even interesting how that moment came to be because it was after browsing a few Instagram profiles that led me to media content creator Dr. Peace Amadi who was creative directing the photoshoot along with her friend and fashion blogger Seyi Famuyiwa. I have a special place in my heart for other women God leads to start ministries that focus on building up young ladies because I know they truly understand my calling to do the same. I could go on and on about Melinda, but I’d rather you see for yourself. Browse the website and check G.L.A.M. Camp out on their Instagram to see what they’re up to now.
