While looking through my list of people I wanted to promote through this website, I was shocked that I hadn’t gotten to my dear friend Amy Jean yet! She’s a painter, photographer, tattoo artist, wife, mother, and just all around amazing human being. So amazing in fact that she introduced me to my husband 8 years ago. I interviewed her on my personal webpage when I was doing a series that highlighted artist. And here we are again. The thing I admire about her the most is that she brings humor and joy everywhere she goes. Her laid back approach–which fits very well into her home of Hawaii–is a reminder that we all need to breathe every once in a while, forget the to-do list, and keep the important things of life a priority. I only know a few artists that excel in everything they put their hands to, and she is one of them. Follow her Instagram if you don’t believe me. Free Falling

When most people think of Valentine’s Day, they think of holding hands with their somebody or avoiding the public due to the fact they don’t have a somebody. However, the greatest love story I’ve ever known is the relationship between God and man. A great thing happened to me when I was single, living in Hawaii, and “oh-so-not” looking for romance. The following is a myspace blog post I wrote over three years ago about that very thing, and it is as relevant now as it was on July 7th, 2008. To give you some backstory, I’ll let you in on a little tradition that happens in Hawaii for people of all ages. At Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, there is a VERY massive rock that beach goers take turns climbing and leaping from all day and this was my chance to do the same. It didn’t go quite as planned, but it is a very memorable moment in my walk with God nonetheless. Continue reading “Free Falling”

Recently, a few people have commented on how they most appreciate my singing above my other gifts. I’d have to say that falls pretty low on my list of favorites. The reason being that it exposes who I am. My voice is ME. I can’t hide behind a camera, layers of makeup, a fictional character, my fears…or silence.

Silence is something I clung to because I feared my words would fall on disinterested ears. “People don’t care what I have to say.” Being a Christian I know these are words the enemy uses to stop me from spreading God’s message. Keeping me from loving others with my advice, encouraging words, humor, and music. Continue reading “Speechless”
