My Miscarriage Journey

I’ve shared in the past that I experienced a painful loss during my first pregnancy in 2013. There have been so many times that women have privately asked me for advice because they were experiencing a miscarriage or knew someone who was. I thought I would sit down in front of the camera and share the ins and outs of my experience because October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and October 15th is Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Day.

How My Faith Grew Between High School and College

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8)

Some of you reading this are in junior high or high school, while others are embarking on the journey of college. Whatever your situation may be, God is going to grow your faith and exceed your wildest dreams as you draw close to Him on and off campus. As you desire to be in His will, He is able to get closer to you and bless you while affecting those around you for the better because of your obedience.

There is a maturity that comes from time with God and from going through various life stages. Know that your level of faith does not compare to anyone else’s, because you are the only you there is, but it should be consistently evolving. I’ve felt the changes going from high school to college to moving out to being married to becoming a mother, etc. Believe me, it never stops, and that is one of the most exciting things about God’s work in you.

I want to share some of the differences between having faith in high school and faith in college, and hopefully it will encourage you where you are and give you something to look forward to. Continue reading “How My Faith Grew Between High School and College”

The day I met Theresa, I found out she was a fighter. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 2B cancer & this year marks her 7th year cancer free. She had 4 surgeries & 6 months of chemo in one year, and is thankful that her body was strong enough to sustain such an ordeal. If you thought that slowed her down one bit, you thought wrong. It only made her commitment to God and to her dreams stronger. When she’s not rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s elite, attending fashion week, or getting dressed up in ball gowns to pose on the red carpet, she’s toiling away at her luxurious brand House of Broadnax. If you want to support an amazing designer, hop onto her website and click “SHOP NOW”.

The Robertsons on “I am Second”

You may or may not have heard of Duck Dynasty. It’s a reality series that follows a Christian family and their duck hunting business. It literally exploded and became a huge success. On air, they discuss their family business, and always incorporate God into the show as much as they can. Here, “I am Second” sits down with a few of the members and reveals what a grip the enemy had on them before they accepted God into their lives.

My friend Alma sent me a direct message on Instagram a few days ago and said that someone from “How 2 Date God’s Way” would be in touch with me soon to get the scoop on me and my husband’s story from how we met to what it was like to be celibate during our dating process. One of our favorite things to talk about is how God used us–imperfect and flawed humans–to be an example of how two people can go against the grain in a culture that asks “people still save themselves for marriage?!”. We know we’re not the only ones who have this testimony, but when co-founder Nneka reached out to me, I browsed her and her husband’s Instagram page and realized that I have never come across a place that highlights couples across the globe in this way. I’m so glad to introduce this husband and wife duo to you, and I hope you’re inspired by their story. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with How 2 Date God’s Way”

I met the owner of Rare Flare a few years ago when she just had her precious baby boy and was announcing that her website was coming soon. I was pregnant at the time and it was amazing to see a new mommy who still had a passion to follow her dreams. Fast forward to today and we are both hustling our talents and showcasing our skills while balancing motherhood and marriage. I’m so inspired by her, and I know that you’ll fall in love with the beautiful one-of-a-kind items she sells in her online boutique. Happy shopping! Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Rare Flare”

The Standard Of Christianity

Have you ever been let down by a Brother or Sister in Christ who seemed to take advantage of the notion that every action and reaction is covered by grace? Are you the Christian who thinks you can do whatever you want and have no consequences because our God is a God of mercy? These thoughts have been bouncing around my head lately after being underwhelmed by some of my interactions with other believers in relationships, business, and daily life. I am not a perfect friend, family member, business partner, or person in general, but I do strive to be more like Christ every day. I believe that’s what God is expecting from us.

On a phone conversation with a friend, I was mentioning how I used to have this naivety about other Christians and felt that “We’re all believers, so we unquestionably have the same standards.” That rose-colored phrase has proven to be wrong time and time again. If it was so easy to live a holy life, everyone would do it. I’m open to seeing how I can be a better steward of this life. If you are as well, I’d love to share with you what I’ve learned so far. Continue reading “The Standard Of Christianity”
