Trust, it’s something I would have told a younger me and something I have to remind myself constantly to do.  Trusting in God is simply obedience in action.

This past year has been a flood of emotions from the ever horrific and tragic news filling my feeds right alongside the sweet birth of my first born and all her very first moments these past 12 months.

MY PROCLIVITY

I am the type of person that can easily spiral down into deep sadness.  My proclivity is to feel deeply which is why I often turn inward to my thoughts of the depravity of man and feelings of hopelessness wash over me if I allow these thoughts to take up residence in my mind and heart. My latest hobby is browsing through fashion blogger Instagram accounts. My favorites are the ones that have a pleasing color scheme, balanced images, and a common theme. When I came upon Pink Couch Girl, I was immediately impressed and clicked “Follow” with the quickness. It’s no wonder she actually has a course on how to get your Instagram feed in order. Days later, she posted that she would be co-creative directing a photoshoot for G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls. I was excited that I booked the shoot and would get to meet her in person. Her name is very fitting for her because Dr. Peace Amadi is one of the most calm under pressure people I’ve ever worked with. (Us creative types can usually get very frazzled very quickly!) Whenever I see her posts, I always know there’s a helpful nugget of wisdom in the description because she takes her platform and influence seriously. Get to know her and let her know I sent you. Fashion Friday: Winter White

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

It may not snow where you live, but you can still see white with winter fashion. If you’re used to donning the usual dark colors of the season, we’d like to persuade you to try some fabulous white outfits. Purchasing some outerwear will give you plenty of options for great ensembles when you’re walking through town in the brisk air.

Bon Voyage: A Step of Faith

If you’ve been following our journey on Instagram you may have noticed a stream of Instastories featuring our travel in France.  This may be one of our biggest leaps of faith lived out from years of prayer.  In 2007 I began to learn about one of the world’s largest injustices, human trafficking.  It literally stopped my heart in its tracks to witness such a huge devastation to mankind.  As a member of humanity I simply couldn’t continue life knowing this was taking place on the very soil I walked on.  I had to get involved with my best efforts.  My best, at the time, was on canvas.  My husband and I created art to help bring awareness and drive funds to an organization that is directly helping rescue women and children out of trafficking.

As 2014 rolled around we began cultivating a brand I had always dreamed of bringing to life, ShopStickyRice.com  Continue reading “Bon Voyage: A Step of Faith”

Have you ever met someone and knew almost immediately that they were a world changer, and a force that wouldn’t let anyone or anything stand in their way? I felt this way upon my first encounter with Melinda Watts, the founder of G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls. I saw a model call for a photoshoot that was associated with this ministry and the Lord immediately said to submit my photo to them. It’s even interesting how that moment came to be because it was after browsing a few Instagram profiles that led me to media content creator Dr. Peace Amadi who was creative directing the photoshoot along with her friend and fashion blogger Seyi Famuyiwa. I have a special place in my heart for other women God leads to start ministries that focus on building up young ladies because I know they truly understand my calling to do the same. I could go on and on about Melinda, but I’d rather you see for yourself. Browse the website and check G.L.A.M. Camp out on their Instagram to see what they’re up to now. Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?

This article was originally written in June of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

There is news in the media almost every week about someone famous calling it quits in their relationship, but it really gives me something to ponder when one of them says, “I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever.”

I can tell you with certainty that most of my friends, Christian or not, have been plagued by doubts that their relationship would survive. When reality set in a few months into my marriage and the sound of wedding bells began to fade, I was completely thrown off by the struggles we were already facing. What happened to the “honeymoon stage” or “wedded bliss”? Continue reading “Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?”

On Facebook, my timeline is usually flooded with the dark side of politics, education, food, family, community, you name it. With our generation, there’s a lot of talking and a lot less doing. This sparked Mone’t’s passion to make a difference by spreading positivity and a call to action to support the Black community. It was a breath of fresh air when she founded The Black Business Tour and I saw her consistently interviewing Black owned businesses or going to an event that recycles Black dollars. When I tell you Mone’t is on the move, I mean she is on the move. And she does it so fashionably, might I add! Check out her social media if you want to keep up with her and see which businesses she’s visiting and what events are coming up. Do you want her to feature your business or event? Check out her services and rates right here.

Here’s a little about her company in her own words:

“We tour Black-owned businesses and share them with you! We emphasize a lifestyle of recycling Black dollars to rebuild COMMUNITY.”

Fashion Friday: Red Nails

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

You may like your nails so long that you have to text with your knuckles, or you might be a mother of a rambunctious toddler who needs her nails to stay short. Either way, what color are you going to paint them? Every once in a while, it’s nice to treat yourself to a manicure–whether at home or the salon. Now that we’re in the middle of the holidays, it’s the perfect time to get those digits all dressed up.

In Love,
