Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?

This article was originally written in June of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

There is news in the media almost every week about someone famous calling it quits in their relationship, but it really gives me something to ponder when one of them says, “I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever.”

I can tell you with certainty that most of my friends, Christian or not, have been plagued by doubts that their relationship would survive. When reality set in a few months into my marriage and the sound of wedding bells began to fade, I was completely thrown off by the struggles we were already facing. What happened to the “honeymoon stage” or “wedded bliss”? Continue reading “Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?”

On Facebook, my timeline is usually flooded with the dark side of politics, education, food, family, community, you name it. With our generation, there’s a lot of talking and a lot less doing. This sparked Mone’t’s passion to make a difference by spreading positivity and a call to action to support the Black community. It was a breath of fresh air when she founded The Black Business Tour and I saw her consistently interviewing Black owned businesses or going to an event that recycles Black dollars. When I tell you Mone’t is on the move, I mean she is on the move. And she does it so fashionably, might I add! Check out her social media if you want to keep up with her and see which businesses she’s visiting and what events are coming up. Do you want her to feature your business or event? Check out her services and rates right here.

Here’s a little about her company in her own words:

“We tour Black-owned businesses and share them with you! We emphasize a lifestyle of recycling Black dollars to rebuild COMMUNITY.”

Fashion Friday: Red Nails

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

You may like your nails so long that you have to text with your knuckles, or you might be a mother of a rambunctious toddler who needs her nails to stay short. Either way, what color are you going to paint them? Every once in a while, it’s nice to treat yourself to a manicure–whether at home or the salon. Now that we’re in the middle of the holidays, it’s the perfect time to get those digits all dressed up.

Should a Christian Date a Non-Believer?

This article was originally written in October of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

I’ve had my fair share of being interested in guys who admittedly didn’t follow The Lord, or their relationship with Him was on rocky ground. I even had to turn down someone I had feelings for because God didn’t want me to be with him. This person then told me that if my God didn’t want me to date him, then he didn’t want anything to do with my God.

You’ll find out pretty quickly what someone’s intentions are once you mention how sold out you are for Jesus—especially when your actions back it up. It is possible that you can invite someone you’re dating to church and they do genuinely accept Jesus and become a Christian, but that’s not a reason to purposely enter into a relationship with an unbeliever. I remember the first time I had one of Amber’s peanut butter cookies, and it was the first time I ever said “Oh my gosh! This is so good and chewy!”about a peanut butter cookie. I’m not usually a fan of peanut butter cookies because most of the ones I’ve had in the past tend to be a little dry. I don’t know what her secret ingredient is, but all of her baked goods leave you craving for more. I think she’s got an advantage having a live in taste tester as a husband. Lol. Recently, she’s ventured into cookie cakes–which are no easy feat!–and they are just as good, if not better, than her individual cookies. Place your order with her today if you’ve got a sweet tooth in need of a baked good. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Amber’s Cookie Cakes”

Long Distance Relationships: How We Made It Work

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

May the Lord watch between you and me when we are absent one from the other. (Genesis 31:49)

Years ago, I excitedly told my coworker that I was going to visit my then boyfriend (now husband), and he asked me where my boyfriend lived. I explained that he lived in California, and this elicited an eyebrow raise accompanied by a smirk that showed me he thought I was naive. He went on to say, “Long-distance relationships don’t work, but whatever floats your boat.”

Well, that relationship worked out and we’ve been married for almost six years. There is a stigma that comes with long-distance relationships, and I even promised myself I would never have one. I can tell you now with conviction that it’s possible and can be wonderful despite the disadvantages. Promo Tuesday with College Church Connection

In March of 2016, my husband was hired to produce the awesome animation you see above. Before that, I had never heard of College Church Connection. I never really knew such organizations existed. When you look at the stats, it really is disturbing to see how many college freshmen who grew up in Christian households end up wavering in their faith pretty quickly because they don’t have a community at school that looks highly on their lifestyle. How many of you felt very pressured to “live it up” and forget everything you knew growing up once you set your foot on a college campus? It’s all too familiar and I’m glad there’s a growing solution to that problem. To learn more about what they’re up to, you can keep up with them here.
