Fashion Friday: Ombre Hair

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

We can’t seem to think of a time of year when ombre hair is not in season. If you’ve never tried it, we suggest you start with a subtle color and build to more bold colors if you like the effect. You may prefer a more natural gradient that looks like you spent hours in the sun, or a more bold contrast of “mermaid hair”. Either way, we’re sure you’ll rock it!

Being a Christian in a Non-Christian World: Career Edition

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.(Psalm 4:3)

Being in the world and not of it is what we continue to seek, but what does that really look like? It is possible to live side by side with people who don’t value our beliefs, but sometimes we get distracted and can start to blend into the way our non-Christian counterparts behave. Among the several jobs I’ve had in my adult life, I’ve mostly witnessed this temptation while navigating through the entertainment industry as an actress in Hollywood. I’ve fully committed myself to this career, but the fact that I do it with biblical strings attached has literally gotten me laughed at on the set. Funny Friday: Shoot Christians Say

God has a sense of humor and so do we. Let’s get the weekend started with a good laugh!

Remember several years ago when there seemed to be a “Stuff [FILL IN THE BLANK] Say” for pretty much any type of person? Here’s the one for Christians and it’s pretty accurate. Continue reading “Funny Friday: Shoot Christians Say”

Fashion Friday: Red Carpet

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

You may not have thousands of dollars to spend on a beaded dress, but sometimes you can get inspiration for an every day look while looking through the fashion of Hollywood’s elite. Maybe your skin tone is similar to Emma Stone’s, and you never thought to wear that shade of green. Maybe your body type is the same as Lupita Nyong’o, and you never knew you could look good in that neckline. Be inspired, and dream a little as you scroll through this gorgeous gallery. Which look is your favorite? Continue reading “Fashion Friday: Red Carpet”

I met Cece during a model fitting a few months ago. It didn’t take long for us to start talking about our love for God and how He’s impacted our careers. She mentioned that she took a leap of faith and left the corporate world to pursue her love for fashion and styling. We traded contact information and I looked up her brand La Isla Vida as soon as I got home. My jaw dropped. She mentioned that this was her first fashion line, and her designs looked as though she’s been confidently doing this for years. That’s the power of trusting in your Creator to work through you. So many opportunities have come up for her since she’s stepped into the spotlight, but the most admirable quality of her success is the fact that she chooses to use her skills to help others. Many of the red carpets she walks have a cause behind them, and she doesn’t pass up an opportunity to help others in their pursuit to make the world a brighter place. You’ll be doing yourself a favor by keeping up with this inspiring woman and seeing what her next plans are. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Cece La Isla Vida”

Funny Friday: Christian Clichés

God has a sense of humor and so do we. Let’s get the weekend started with a good laugh!

There are so many things that we’ve gotten used to doing that it’s hilarious to find out which ones have become cliché. Watch this video to see what we’re talking about, and we dare you not to laugh. Okay, you can laugh.

Praise and Worship Only?

But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. (John 4:23)

I remember when there wasn’t a Spotify, an iTunes, or a Pandora app. Heck, I remember when smartphones weren’t even a thing. Do I sound old yet? Listening to praise and worship music used to consist of the same 10-15 songs on repeat on the Christian radio station in my local area or the few songs I sang each week at church. This started to get old, and I remember riding in the car and telling my mom that I was so tired of Christian music. I soon found out that I didn’t have an issue with Christian music, but the ones I heard over and over just weren’t my thing. Continue reading “Praise and Worship Only?”

The Problem with Comparison

Comparison is the thief of joy. It robs us of our gratitude because we’re either too busy being envious of something we don’t have, or being prideful that what we do have is better than so-and-so’s. Remember the term “Keeping up with the Jones'”? (Do people still use that phrase?) You could see it as an endearing way of striving for “better” so that we don’t become content with “not good enough”. However, everyone’s “better” looks different. If you ask a group of people what success means to them, I bet it will be a different definition to each person.

I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles from Hawaii, and I thought “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I made it all the way here. I can’t believe I’m already working as an actress just weeks after I changed my address.” I felt pretty great about myself until the auditions started wearing on me. When you’re sitting in the waiting room eager for your name to be called, sometimes other actors in the room will start chit-chatting about their career or what they’ve been up to lately. Promo Tuesday with Jeevo

Promo Tuesdays is where we highlight our brothers and sisters who are moving through ministry and small business while spreading the gospel as the Lord leads. Please support them by checking out their website and social media.

I haven’t met many Christian musicians with such a burden for the lost. Jeevo is one of them. As a humanitarian and minister, music is just one of the many mediums he uses to spread the gospel. He’s been releasing albums consistently since 2008, and his boldness and confidence in the Lord is a major reason to be excited about his upcoming concert happening next month. I’ve provided the flyer, please share and invite others to come.
