Along with working in the entertainment industry, Jerrell Conner is the Creator of the bible-based comic Revelations: The Prophets and is the Senior Illustrator for Eggizo Entertainment’s Restoration: Judges. I’ve witnessed his deep love for God and spreading the gospel more than anyone else has since we’ve been married for over six years. Some say that the arts is a dark world, but there are so many amazing artists who are taking the industry by storm. Jerrell is one of them, and has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. I met Arielle after hearing her perform spoken word at an event a few months ago. To say I was speechless is an understatement. As she came in for a hug, I commented on how humble, sweet, and approachable she was. She replied “I’m not really familiar with what a “stranger” is. I don’t know what that looks like.” I’ve never heard someone describe themselves that way before, but immediately God told me that the way she was created was to give others a sense of “home”. I agree. Her poetry and personality is comforting and validating at the same time. What she’s embarking on as an artist and truth seeker has already started a movement, and I’m totally on board. Eggizo Entertainment  started off as three friends who were excited about comics, but wished there was more content that was biblically based. Comic enthusiasts will flood a San Diego convention hall every year, but how many of them are walking through the halls of the church? As a tool to bring the gospel to a younger generation, sometimes you have to use your favorite medium to carry the message. In order to aid in God’s plan to minister to every thrill seeker and story lover, a cord of three (Jeroll Rodgers, Frederick Price, and Jerrell Conner) stepped into the world of the resurrected in order to bring you Restoration: Judges. A mutual friend introduced me to my now dear friend Lezlie, founder of Love Lezlie. It’s no wonder we clicked because we’re both in the fashion and entertainment industry aspiring to live a lifestyle that promotes love. She’s been blogging for several years on her career, her walk with God, choosing a vegan lifestyle, spiritual growth, marriage, ethnicity, etc. and the impact her words have is amazing. I’ve even had the opportunity to be featured on her site. There aren’t many people I know who live a completely transparent and unashamed gospel-driven life and are willing to share it on a public platform. I hope you’re as impacted by her journey as I am. Acting Like a Christian

This article was originally written for Our Witness, a website that highlights personal testimonies of Christians all over the world. Since this is my first post for L’amour in Christ, I thought I should let you in on who I am as an artist and a child of God. Thank you for reading!

Being beautiful on the outside isn’t something I’m always striving to be, but knowing that I’m exuding beauty from within is very important to me. Unfortunately, it’s taken me a while to know who I truly am and to accept that person. Before my relationship with God, I struggled to feel beautiful and that’s one of the reasons my mom enrolled me in modeling classes when I was 15 years young. I didn’t know this at the time, but it was her way of boosting my self esteem and helping me to accept my femininity.

I used to think anything form-fitting was sexual, and I didn’t want the wrong kind of attention coming my way. After learning that how I carried myself spoke more about me than what I was wearing, I felt comfortable looking like a girl. These affirmations and the newfound love for myself helped kick start my modeling and acting career. Continue reading “Acting Like a Christian” →
