The day I met Theresa, I found out she was a fighter. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 2B cancer & this year marks her 7th year cancer free. She had 4 surgeries & 6 months of chemo in one year, and is thankful that her body was strong enough to sustain such an ordeal. If you thought that slowed her down one bit, you thought wrong. It only made her commitment to God and to her dreams stronger. When she’s not rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s elite, attending fashion week, or getting dressed up in ball gowns to pose on the red carpet, she’s toiling away at her luxurious brand House of Broadnax. Fashion Friday: Modest Glam

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

We don’t think Christians should be dressed in revealing clothing, but we don’t think they need to be covered from head to toe either. When you imagine a modest outfit, what does it look like? For some of you it may mean a certain length skirt or a specific neckline, and ultimately modesty should be a lifestyle that permeates every aspect of your life. It’s important to seek God to guide you in your wardrobe, but we also thought it might be helpful to see some examples. Here’s a video with three “modest glam” looks that are sophisticated, feminine, and elegant.

Earlier this year, I walked the runway for a fashion ministry event titled “Fashioned4Life“. The feedback was so great that the producers of the show were asked to hit the stage again. Here we are now for Fashioned4Life Ministry Showcase 2! There are seldom times when I’m able to combine my love for fashion with my love for Jesus. Kelsie and Bren have truly inspired me to get outside of my comfort zone and to be bold with whatever vision God has given me. Are you in the LA area and interested in coming? Well, you can! For the past several years it’s really been on my heart to adopt as well as have biological children. The story of adults who have been in the foster system as well as those who were adopted really resonated with me. I don’t think everyone has to or should adopt, but The Lord has definitely opened up my heart to the idea. Where do you start though? I always thought I would “find my future children” through volunteering, mentoring, or some type of community organization where I would get to know them and God would say “this is the one”. I’ve been meaning to highlight Karla Storey after seeing her fashion ministry on Instagram. Imagine my surprise when I go to her about section and she explains how her heart is for orphans, fostering, and adopting. Additionally, part of her proceeds goes towards helping them to have a better life. When you put your money where you mouth is, great things start to happen. Add Jesus to that, and all possibilities start to rise to the surface. I’m looking forward to seeing her flourish, and I thank God that there are so many out there making a difference.
