Fashion Friday: Women’s Athleisure Style

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

Whether you’re running errands, running to catch your flight at the airport, or chasing a toddler around the park, you don’t have to sacrifice your style or comfort if you’re into athleisure fashion. We saw last week how men sport this style, now let’s take a look at what women are putting together for those days when they’re on the go.

Promo Tuesday with April Blooms

I was recently hired to model for a local Pasadena shop named April Blooms. The owner’s name is April and her mission is to help women of all shapes, sizes, and colors bloom and feel beautiful. I love an organization with a purpose, and the icing on the cake was finding out that she donates a portion of the shop’s sales to two organizations that support victims of human trafficking both at home in California and abroad through prevention, advocacy, prosecution, and restoration. Every embroidered tote bag and clutch was calling my name, as well as the clothing that has a sophisticated and high quality feel. How many of you can say you have a circle skirt in your closet? If you don’t: why not? No matter what your body type is or what the weather is like where you are, this is a staple piece you can wear casually or glam up. We’re a fan of the ones with fun prints and bright colors, but a classic solid color will do for even the pickiest fashionista.

From frilly and lacy to “I don’t want to get out of bed” comfy, knee high socks can fit into anyone’s wardrobe. With winter on it’s way, you might want to take a trip to the mall–or eBay–to get your stock together. We love pairing these with boots and a cozy sweater.

The day I met Theresa, I found out she was a fighter. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 2B cancer & this year marks her 7th year cancer free. She had 4 surgeries & 6 months of chemo in one year, and is thankful that her body was strong enough to sustain such an ordeal. If you thought that slowed her down one bit, you thought wrong. It only made her commitment to God and to her dreams stronger. When she’s not rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s elite, attending fashion week, or getting dressed up in ball gowns to pose on the red carpet, she’s toiling away at her luxurious brand House of Broadnax. I met Courtney W. Linsey, the founder of BUILD Apparel, back in May of this year where we both performed at a concert for our friend Jeevo. I remember asking him what he was up to in his career, and he swiftly handed me a flier for his company. It’s amazing how many brands are out there, but God still helps His children to stand out amongst the crowd. His label is getting major recognition, and it’s still only the beginning.
