As Christians we have developed a fear of sharing a our testimony, we fear that others will judge us and scrutinize our lives or we think to the other end of the extreme where we believe our story is simply not powerful.
We don’t have to be a theologian to share Christ nor do we have to fabricate perfectionism, we don’t have to exaggerate or ever improve on what God has done. We should just tell people honestly what happened in our lives so they can see what happened on the outside and what changed on the inside. Even, share areas where you still struggle (caution is needed here, we should pray about what to share and not just share for the sake of sharing). But, knowing that others are in the same struggle could encourage someone. For years, I suffered in silence because I didn’t know who to talk to. I couldn’t talk to my family because they were part of the problem. I felt like I couldn’t talk to anyone at church because everyone looked like they were living these perfect lives. I learned how to sweep my issues and problems under the rug, especially, as African American women we are taught to keep people out of our business and be strong.
