Is God Trying to Get Your Attention?

When I first found my home church, I wanted to be involved in everything 100 percent. I went to service on Sundays, had my small group meetings in the middle of the week, helped edit videos for the service, joined the dance team, volunteered my acting skills in the performing arts ministry and was about to join the choir. Is that calendar making your head spin or what?

Our overworked and overly busy society that takes pride in a full and color-coded calendar app has infiltrated the way we have church. It almost becomes more about the building than the body of Christ. Let’s make sure that our efforts of serving our Heavenly Father are balanced and coming from the right place. I was already drawn to their beautiful designs on t-shirts and mugs, but when I noticed that the founder Inka Mathew joined in the fight against human trafficking, I knew that I had to feature them and get others to see what they are doing for those who currently cannot help themselves. 10% of each purchase goes to featured anti human trafficking organizations. Jason Petty aka Propaganda came to Hawaii to perform back in 2008 when I lived there, and that’s when I met him for the first time. I was hired to be the camera person to record the event and was blown away at the talent and intellect that came from his musical poetry. Flash forward a few years and I meet him again through mutual friends in California about a year after moving here. It turns out he had met me and my now husband on separate occasions before we even knew each other existed. It’s funny how life works that way, and we all still talk here and there as our careers and families blossom. The best thing about witnessing him on stage is seeing how the audience has to consciously digest the message because the stories he tells are so deeply profound. How many of you can say you have a circle skirt in your closet? If you don’t: why not? No matter what your body type is or what the weather is like where you are, this is a staple piece you can wear casually or glam up. We’re a fan of the ones with fun prints and bright colors, but a classic solid color will do for even the pickiest fashionista.
