How My Faith Grew Between High School and College

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8)

Some of you reading this are in junior high or high school, while others are embarking on the journey of college. Whatever your situation may be, God is going to grow your faith and exceed your wildest dreams as you draw close to Him on and off campus. As you desire to be in His will, He is able to get closer to you and bless you while affecting those around you for the better because of your obedience.

There is a maturity that comes from time with God and from going through various life stages. Know that your level of faith does not compare to anyone else’s, because you are the only you there is, but it should be consistently evolving. I’ve felt the changes going from high school to college to moving out to being married to becoming a mother, etc. Believe me, it never stops, and that is one of the most exciting things about God’s work in you.

I want to share some of the differences between having faith in high school and faith in college, and hopefully it will encourage you where you are and give you something to look forward to. Continue reading “How My Faith Grew Between High School and College”

What It Really Means To Be; “A Daughter Of The KING”

This morning I read that after an eleven year streak, the princess costume is no longer the number one favorite choice for Halloween. What has caused this change? I think there’s nothing wrong with calling our girls princesses, or encouraging them to dress as one, but let’s make sure they know the definition of a true princess. Generally the nick name, “Princess” is used to define a spoiled girl, dressed in glitter and fluff.

Funny Friday: God’s Little Acre

God has a sense of humor and so do we. Let’s get the weekend started with a good laugh!

We found some goodies over at God’s Little Acre that we thought we’d share. Which one is your favorite?

1. THE BRIDGE

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer. All of a sudden he said out loud, “Lord, grant me one wish.” Suddenly the sky clouded above his head, and in a booming voice the Lord said, “Because you have TRIED to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.” The man said, “Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want to.”

The Lord said, “Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics of that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for wordly things. Take a little more time and think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me.”

The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, “Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say ‘nothing,’ and how I can make a woman truly happy.”

After a few minutes God said, “You want two or four lanes on that bridge?”

Created to Create

“To know your purpose, You must know God.”

5 years and I felt discontent. Working as a nurse for 5 years and my heart longed to do something greater. To fulfill my purpose, my calling. To know why I was created and the Creator who created me. I started praying hard. I needed answers. I needed God.

When I was in kindergarten, our teacher asked us what we wanted to do and be when we grew up. I drew myself as an artist, with a purple outfit and beret painting at an easel. I saw myself as an artist and from childhood to high school, I immersed myself in all things creative from dance, music, writing, rapping, drawing and painting – and even fashion. I loved it all. But my artistic path stopped when college hit. I had to chose what my life would look like. I needed stability and safety. My future needed it due to my past.  Continue reading “Created to Create”

I met Courtney W. Linsey, the founder of BUILD Apparel, back in May of this year where we both performed at a concert for our friend Jeevo. I remember asking him what he was up to in his career, and he swiftly handed me a flier for his company. It’s amazing how many brands are out there, but God still helps His children to stand out amongst the crowd. His label is getting major recognition, and it’s still only the beginning. The dedication Courtney has to spread the gospel through his music and apparel are inspiring. Take a look at his website and social media, and be sure to order some fresh gear. The Robertsons on “I am Second”

You may or may not have heard of Duck Dynasty. It’s a reality series that follows a Christian family and their duck hunting business. It literally exploded and became a huge success. On air, they discuss their family business, and always incorporate God into the show as much as they can. Here, “I am Second” sits down with a few of the members and reveals what a grip the enemy had on them before they accepted God into their lives.

We’d love to hear your testimony! How has the Lord changed your life? Continue reading “The Robertsons on “I am Second””

Funny Friday: Chewbacca Mom

God has a sense of humor and so do we. Let’s get the weekend started with a good laugh!

It’s been about four months since Chewbacca Mom went viral. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that she’s a believer! You’ve heard it said that laughter is contagious, and this is no different. In case you haven’t seen it or need to see it again, we wanted to share it here!

One thing is for certain, if you don’t have a strong community, your falls will be harder and trust me you will fall.  Having church, (no I don’t mean a building where people meet) has shown me so much about the love of God.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”-Ecclesiastes 4:10

After years of wondering this earth ‘completely’ alone, a time where I ‘left’ God for this world, I began to return my heart back to Him.   I surrendered on a bed of fear and withdrawals in my dark apartment on the beautiful California Street in San Francisco.   Continue reading “Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom”

My friend Alma sent me a direct message on Instagram a few days ago and said that someone from “How 2 Date God’s Way” would be in touch with me soon to get the scoop on me and my husband’s story from how we met to what it was like to be celibate during our dating process. One of our favorite things to talk about is how God used us–imperfect and flawed humans–to be an example of how two people can go against the grain in a culture that asks “people still save themselves for marriage?!”. We know we’re not the only ones who have this testimony, but when co-founder Nneka reached out to me, I browsed her and her husband’s Instagram page and realized that I have never come across a place that highlights couples across the globe in this way. I’m so glad to introduce this husband and wife duo to you, and I hope you’re inspired by their story. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with How 2 Date God’s Way”
