Long Distance Relationships: How We Made It Work

Years ago, I excitedly told my coworker that I was going to visit my then boyfriend (now husband), and he asked me where my boyfriend lived. I explained that he lived in California, and this elicited an eyebrow raise accompanied by a smirk that showed me he thought I was naive. He went on to say, “Long-distance relationships don’t work, but whatever floats your boat.”

Well, that relationship worked out and we’ve been married for almost six years. There is a stigma that comes with long-distance relationships, and I even promised myself I would never have one. I can tell you now with conviction that it’s possible and can be wonderful despite the disadvantages. How I Knew My Husband Was “The One”

I’ve been asked this question so many times by close friends and practical strangers: “How did you know your husband was the one you were supposed to marry?” A common answer–and I agree with this–is “When you know, you know.” There is a definite moment where it just clicks and you both realize “This is for forever.” It’s a concept that’s hard to grasp, and although I felt Jerrell was my future husband the first time we sat down alone and talked for hours, even I needed some reassurance.

It wasn’t until I took my romance to God that I really felt beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was time to prepare for marriage. As much as one could. Just like having kids, you never ever feel ready to be a husband or wife. You couldn’t possibly because there’s no way to rehearse it. I’ve even talked to couples who had lived together for years and felt like marriage was just a piece of paper, but once they tied the knot the experience and the security was noticeably different. Eggizo Entertainment  started off as three friends who were excited about comics, but wished there was more content that was biblically based. Comic enthusiasts will flood a San Diego convention hall every year, but how many of them are walking through the halls of the church? As a tool to bring the gospel to a younger generation, sometimes you have to use your favorite medium to carry the message. In order to aid in God’s plan to minister to every thrill seeker and story lover, a cord of three (Jeroll Rodgers, Frederick Price, and Jerrell Conner) stepped into the world of the resurrected in order to bring you Restoration: Judges.
