I’ve shared in the past that I experienced a painful loss during my first pregnancy in 2013. There have been so many times that women have privately asked me for advice because they were experiencing a miscarriage or knew someone who was. I thought I would sit down in front of the camera and share the ins and outs of my experience because October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and October 15th is Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Day.

“To know your purpose, You must know God.”
5 years and I felt discontent. Working as a nurse for 5 years and my heart longed to do something greater. To fulfill my purpose, my calling. To know why I was created and the Creator who created me. I started praying hard. I needed answers. I needed God.
When I was in kindergarten, our teacher asked us what we wanted to do and be when we grew up. I drew myself as an artist, with a purple outfit and beret painting at an easel. I saw myself as an artist and from childhood to high school, I immersed myself in all things creative from dance, music, writing, rapping, drawing and painting – and even fashion. I loved it all. But my artistic path stopped when college hit. I had to chose what my life would look like. I needed stability and safety. My future needed it due to my past. Continue reading “Created to Create”
You may or may not have heard of Duck Dynasty. It’s a reality series that follows a Christian family and their duck hunting business. It literally exploded and became a huge success. On air, they discuss their family business, and always incorporate God into the show as much as they can. Here, “I am Second” sits down with a few of the members and reveals what a grip the enemy had on them before they accepted God into their lives.
We’d love to hear your testimony! How has the Lord changed your life? Continue reading “The Robertsons on “I am Second””

One thing is for certain, if you don’t have a strong community, your falls will be harder and trust me you will fall. Having church, (no I don’t mean a building where people meet) has shown me so much about the love of God.
“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”-Ecclesiastes 4:10
After years of wondering this earth ‘completely’ alone, a time where I ‘left’ God for this world, I began to return my heart back to Him. I surrendered on a bed of fear and withdrawals in my dark apartment on the beautiful California Street in San Francisco. Continue reading “Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom”

My friend Alma sent me a direct message on Instagram a few days ago and said that someone from “How 2 Date God’s Way” would be in touch with me soon to get the scoop on me and my husband’s story from how we met to what it was like to be celibate during our dating process. One of our favorite things to talk about is how God used us–imperfect and flawed humans–to be an example of how two people can go against the grain in a culture that asks “people still save themselves for marriage?!”. We know we’re not the only ones who have this testimony, but when co-founder Nneka reached out to me, I browsed her and her husband’s Instagram page and realized that I have never come across a place that highlights couples across the globe in this way. I’m so glad to introduce this husband and wife duo to you, and I hope you’re inspired by their story. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with How 2 Date God’s Way”

Have you ever had one of those days? You know, those days where nothing goes as it should? Where when something goes wrong, you just mutter “of course”? Where you’re unproductive and frustrated? I had one on Monday.
Ava and I were out of school. We were supposed to have an easygoing day, especially because she had an ear infection. But as the day progressed, I realized I had a few seemingly tiny things to do. Continue reading “One of Those Days”
Have you ever been let down by a Brother or Sister in Christ who seemed to take advantage of the notion that every action and reaction is covered by grace? Are you the Christian who thinks you can do whatever you want and have no consequences because our God is a God of mercy? These thoughts have been bouncing around my head lately after being underwhelmed by some of my interactions with other believers in relationships, business, and daily life. I am not a perfect friend, family member, business partner, or person in general, but I do strive to be more like Christ every day. I believe that’s what God is expecting from us.
On a phone conversation with a friend, I was mentioning how I used to have this naivety about other Christians and felt that “We’re all believers, so we unquestionably have the same standards.” That rose-colored phrase has proven to be wrong time and time again. If it was so easy to live a holy life, everyone would do it. I’m open to seeing how I can be a better steward of this life. If you are as well, I’d love to share with you what I’ve learned so far. What does it mean to have it all, do it all, and be everything to everyone? I don’t know, but it makes me tired just thinking about it. I think most Christian women have Proverbs 31 on a pedestal, but many of us are asking “How do I apply this to my life?”
I’m not an early riser and I don’t have female servants. I don’t own property (yet), neither do I wish to have a vineyard. You would think that this wife of noble character described in the bible is a busy-body, but we’ve learned in Luke 10:38-42 that sitting at the Lord’s feet is far more important than having your hands full. While looking through my list of people I wanted to promote through this website, I was shocked that I hadn’t gotten to my dear friend Amy Jean yet! She’s a painter, photographer, tattoo artist, wife, mother, and just all around amazing human being. So amazing in fact that she introduced me to my husband 8 years ago. I interviewed her on my personal webpage when I was doing a series that highlighted artist. And here we are again. The thing I admire about her the most is that she brings humor and joy everywhere she goes. Her laid back approach–which fits very well into her home of Hawaii–is a reminder that we all need to breathe every once in a while, forget the to-do list, and keep the important things of life a priority. I only know a few artists that excel in everything they put their hands to, and she is one of them. Follow her Instagram if you don’t believe me.
