Since my sister Khyra was a kid, I remember her always drawing and working on crafts in her bedroom like it was a business. I can even recall a time when I entered my art into an art show and she requested to submit her work as well. I thought she was joking until we showed up and she asked me where she could display her pieces. Even still, this young woman is serious about her business and it’s evolved into a legitimate art and apparel company that turns heads everywhere it’s seen. Peace Peep Designs is more than a brand, it’s a way of life and a call to action. May we all continue to live in peace. I met the owner of Rare Flare a few years ago when she just had her precious baby boy and was announcing that her website was coming soon. I was pregnant at the time and it was amazing to see a new mommy who still had a passion to follow her dreams. Fast forward to today and we are both hustling our talents and showcasing our skills while balancing motherhood and marriage. While looking through my list of people I wanted to promote through this website, I was shocked that I hadn’t gotten to my dear friend Amy Jean yet! She’s a painter, photographer, tattoo artist, wife, mother, and just all around amazing human being. So amazing in fact that she introduced me to my husband 8 years ago. I interviewed her on my personal webpage when I was doing a series that highlighted artist. And here we are again. The thing I admire about her the most is that she brings humor and joy everywhere she goes. Her laid back approach–which fits very well into her home of Hawaii–is a reminder that we all need to breathe every once in a while, forget the to-do list, and keep the important things of life a priority. How I Gained Confidence Through Christ

I get asked a lot “Have you always been this confident?” The truth is: NO WAY! It took me a long time to be the confident woman I am. I’ve struggled with identity issues and feeling insecure for many reasons (that I describe in this video). It wasn’t until my walk with God was solid that I found peace in who I was because I finally understood whose I was. It’s been a journey of self-discovery that I’m sure every human has to go through in order to walk confidently through life. I still find myself dabbling in comparison and doubt, but it’s not the all-consuming fire that it used to be.

For the past several years it’s really been on my heart to adopt as well as have biological children. The story of adults who have been in the foster system as well as those who were adopted really resonated with me. I don’t think everyone has to or should adopt, but The Lord has definitely opened up my heart to the idea. Where do you start though? I always thought I would “find my future children” through volunteering, mentoring, or some type of community organization where I would get to know them and God would say “this is the one”. I’ve been meaning to highlight Karla Storey after seeing her fashion ministry on Instagram. Imagine my surprise when I go to her about section and she explains how her heart is for orphans, fostering, and adopting. Additionally, part of her proceeds goes towards helping them to have a better life. When you put your money where you mouth is, great things start to happen. Add Jesus to that, and all possibilities start to rise to the surface. I’m looking forward to seeing her flourish, and I thank God that there are so many out there making a difference. I’ve been following She Paints Truth on social media for a while ever since my small group sisters told me about the awesome biblical daily encouragement they provide through art. It wasn’t until I saw a post from the founder Christie that I stopped in my tracks. Around the same time, we both posted about our walk with God and how He confirmed who our spouse was. Her story is a little different than mine, but the overall message is the same. After social media stalking her (I know I’m not the only one! Lol.), I thought it would be more than appropriate to give her a feature. I love what she’s doing in her personal testimony as well as her art platform to share the gospel. The Saviour

Don’t condemn me, don’t tempt me.

HE washed away my sins, now I’m fighting for my blessings

HE promises HE’ll never leave, this world is so messy

Praying for my state as my state of mind changes

Can’t go by what I feel, I just have to trust in my Saviour.

Distractions from myself, I could be the enemy it seems

The son of man has set me free, there is indeed a real enemy

Truth is all I need to see, JESUS came to set the captives free.

HE would never tempt me

Mind my own, and I’ll enjoy the blessings

Willing and obedient, take the frustration out of all of it

I haven’t apprehended

It’s a marathon, just jogging it.

Helpers from GOD along the way

Aiming not to go astray, an obstacle or two in the way

Learning and growing everyday.

Juicing now for energy

Apples, carrots, plus the greens

Slimmed down, mom said, “You’re way too lean.”

All the toxins made me feel unclean

Keep waking up from GODLY dreams

Praying without ceasing

At a pit stop for some healing

Gave in to the one my heart’s been craving

The only one who can save us.

The saviour.

I met Cece during a model fitting a few months ago. It didn’t take long for us to start talking about our love for God and how He’s impacted our careers. She mentioned that she took a leap of faith and left the corporate world to pursue her love for fashion and styling. We traded contact information and I looked up her brand La Isla Vida as soon as I got home. My jaw dropped. She mentioned that this was her first fashion line, and her designs looked as though she’s been confidently doing this for years. That’s the power of trusting in your Creator to work through you. So many opportunities have come up for her since she’s stepped into the spotlight, but the most admirable quality of her success is the fact that she chooses to use her skills to help others. Many of the red carpets she walks have a cause behind them, and she doesn’t pass up an opportunity to help others in their pursuit to make the world a brighter place.
