Trust in Trying Times

Trust, it’s something I would have told a younger me and something I have to remind myself constantly to do.  Trusting in God is simply obedience in action.

This past year has been a flood of emotions from the ever horrific and tragic news filling my feeds right alongside the sweet birth of my first born and all her very first moments these past 12 months.

MY PROCLIVITY

I am the type of person that can easily spiral down into deep sadness.  My proclivity is to feel deeply which is why I often turn inward to my thoughts of the depravity of man and feelings of hopelessness wash over me if I allow these thoughts to take up residence in my mind and heart. Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?

This article was originally written in June of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

There is news in the media almost every week about someone famous calling it quits in their relationship, but it really gives me something to ponder when one of them says, “I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever.”

I can tell you with certainty that most of my friends, Christian or not, have been plagued by doubts that their relationship would survive. When reality set in a few months into my marriage and the sound of wedding bells began to fade, I was completely thrown off by the struggles we were already facing. What happened to the “honeymoon stage” or “wedded bliss”? Continue reading “Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?”

Should a Christian Date a Non-Believer?

This article was originally written in October of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

I’ve had my fair share of being interested in guys who admittedly didn’t follow The Lord, or their relationship with Him was on rocky ground. I even had to turn down someone I had feelings for because God didn’t want me to be with him. This person then told me that if my God didn’t want me to date him, then he didn’t want anything to do with my God.

You’ll find out pretty quickly what someone’s intentions are once you mention how sold out you are for Jesus—especially when your actions back it up. It is possible that you can invite someone you’re dating to church and they do genuinely accept Jesus and become a Christian, but that’s not a reason to purposely enter into a relationship with an unbeliever. When Should You Move on From Your Crush?

This article was originally written in September of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Be strong, and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD. (Psalm 31:24)

I think many people fail to understand how emotionally invested teen girls and young 20-somethings are when it comes to dating. Simply forgetting about a guy isn’t so easy to do, depending on how long you’ve liked him or how close you two have been. I’ve had crushes that ranged from a few weeks up to a few years. I’m talking a “Dear Diary, my heart is breaking! Why doesn’t he like me?” type of thing. I’m sure we’ve all been there.

Although I don’t personally believe dating is necessary until you’re entering a life stage where you are marriage-minded, I know most of you are hoping to have a relationship soon. I’d like to share some tips on who to avoid in the meantime. I’ll also briefly describe what you can do to get through the tough task of moving on. Is God Trying to Get Your Attention?

This article was originally written in April of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

When I first found my home church, I wanted to be involved in everything 100 percent. I went to service on Sundays, had my small group meetings in the middle of the week, helped edit videos for the service, joined the dance team, volunteered my acting skills in the performing arts ministry and was about to join the choir. Is that calendar making your head spin or what?

Our overworked and overly busy society that takes pride in a full and color-coded calendar app has infiltrated the way we have church. It almost becomes more about the building than the body of Christ. Let’s make sure that our efforts of serving our Heavenly Father are balanced and coming from the right place. What to Do When You and Your Friend Like the Same Guy

This article was originally written in October of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)

Imagine this conversation: your best friend is talking about her new crush and mentioning how sweet he is and how she could gaze into his eyes forever. It only takes a few minutes before she says his name, and your heart sinks to the pit of your stomach. You and your best friend–who are used to sharing everything–are into the same guy! Obviously you can’t share a boyfriend, so what do you do? Continue reading “What to Do When You and Your Friend Like the Same Guy”

What It Really Means To Be; “A Daughter Of The KING”

Our contributor Terry has graciously allowed us to feature her writing with our readers. Stay tuned for more contributors in the future! This article was originally posted on Loving L.I.F.E.

This morning I read that after an eleven year streak, the princess costume is no longer the number one favorite choice for Halloween. What has caused this change? I think there’s nothing wrong with calling our girls princesses, or encouraging them to dress as one, but let’s make sure they know the definition of a true princess. Generally the nick name, “Princess” is used to define a spoiled girl, dressed in glitter and fluff.

Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom

One thing is for certain, if you don’t have a strong community, your falls will be harder and trust me you will fall.  Having church, (no I don’t mean a building where people meet) has shown me so much about the love of God.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”-Ecclesiastes 4:10

After years of wondering this earth ‘completely’ alone, a time where I ‘left’ God for this world, I began to return my heart back to Him.   I surrendered on a bed of fear and withdrawals in my dark apartment on the beautiful California Street in San Francisco.   Continue reading “Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom”

My friend Alma sent me a direct message on Instagram a few days ago and said that someone from “How 2 Date God’s Way” would be in touch with me soon to get the scoop on me and my husband’s story from how we met to what it was like to be celibate during our dating process. One of our favorite things to talk about is how God used us–imperfect and flawed humans–to be an example of how two people can go against the grain in a culture that asks “people still save themselves for marriage?!”. We know we’re not the only ones who have this testimony, but when co-founder Nneka reached out to me, I browsed her and her husband’s Instagram page and realized that I have never come across a place that highlights couples across the globe in this way. I’m so glad to introduce this husband and wife duo to you, and I hope you’re inspired by their story. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with How 2 Date God’s Way”
