This morning I read that after an eleven year streak, the princess costume is no longer the number one favorite choice for Halloween. What has caused this change? I think there’s nothing wrong with calling our girls princesses, or encouraging them to dress as one, but let’s make sure they know the definition of a true princess. Generally the nick name, “Princess” is used to define a spoiled girl, dressed in glitter and fluff.

I think my friend Mignonette Bailey has her hands in about a dozen different things, and each one is successfully curated and executed. When she started her company Sole of Brasil, the shopper in me immediately wanted to start purchasing every sandal, flat, and strappy heel she offered. Something that I’m drawn to in a entrepreneur is a heart for putting others first and using their platform to reach people in need. She is no different, and her cause is that with every purchase, Sole of Brasil makes a donation to the Dream Center’s Human Trafficking Program to house and rehabilitate women who have been rescued from traffickers. So many will say “The children are our future”, but how many will actually do what it takes to ensure they have a future worth living? I’m proud to share the work that my aunt Mary Conner has been doing lately. She just started a project titled “Campaign 13” and she is asking everyone to support her by purchasing one or more of her books. She has two titles out and is currently working on her third. The aim of these books is to answer some questions that parents or youth may have about the juvenile justice system.
