The more I learn about how our diet and lifestyle affect our health, the more grateful I am that God has placed some amazing and knowledgeable Christians in my life. Jamie Chan-Ortega of Oasis Healing Arts is one of those people. I remember having conversations with her about the misinformation that is out there about nutrition, and how our immune system will succeed or fail depending on how we feed it. I remember my younger days of surviving on fast food and thinking my Arizona Green Iced Tea was healthy. I was constantly fatigued and would catch any bug that was going around throughout the year. Thanks to friends like Jamie, my family hardly gets sick and–believe it or not–we don’t survive off of kale and green smoothies. Balance is the key to life, and I hope you check out more information that Oasis Healing Arts has to offer. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Oasis Healing Arts”

Fashion Friday: Modest Glam

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

We don’t think Christians should be dressed in revealing clothing, but we don’t think they need to be covered from head to toe either. When you imagine a modest outfit, what does it look like? For some of you it may mean a certain length skirt or a specific neckline, and ultimately modesty should be a lifestyle that permeates every aspect of your life. It’s important to seek God to guide you in your wardrobe, but we also thought it might be helpful to see some examples. Here’s a video with three “modest glam” looks that are sophisticated, feminine, and elegant.

Which outfit is your favorite?

What Does it Mean to be a Proverbs 31 Woman?

What does it mean to have it all, do it all, and be everything to everyone? I don’t know, but it makes me tired just thinking about it. I think most Christian women have Proverbs 31 on a pedestal, but many of us are asking “How do I apply this to my life?”

I’m not an early riser and I don’t have female servants. I don’t own property (yet), neither do I wish to have a vineyard. You would think that this wife of noble character described in the bible is a busy-body, but we’ve learned in Luke 10:38-42 that sitting at the Lord’s feet is far more important than having your hands full. While looking through my list of people I wanted to promote through this website, I was shocked that I hadn’t gotten to my dear friend Amy Jean yet! She’s a painter, photographer, tattoo artist, wife, mother, and just all around amazing human being. So amazing in fact that she introduced me to my husband 8 years ago. I interviewed her on my personal webpage when I was doing a series that highlighted artist. And here we are again. The thing I admire about her the most is that she brings humor and joy everywhere she goes. Her laid back approach–which fits very well into her home of Hawaii–is a reminder that we all need to breathe every once in a while, forget the to-do list, and keep the important things of life a priority. I only know a few artists that excel in everything they put their hands to, and she is one of them. Follow her Instagram if you don’t believe me. How I Gained Confidence Through Christ

I get asked a lot “Have you always been this confident?” The truth is: NO WAY! It took me a long time to be the confident woman I am. I’ve struggled with identity issues and feeling insecure for many reasons (that I describe in this video). It wasn’t until my walk with God was solid that I found peace in who I was because I finally understood whose I was. It’s been a journey of self-discovery that I’m sure every human has to go through in order to walk confidently through life. I still find myself dabbling in comparison and doubt, but it’s not the all-consuming fire that it used to be.

Before starting my YouTube channel, me and my mother were doing research on other YouTubers with similar ideas, faith, and personality. My mom sent me a link to Ashley Empowers and I was hooked. I watched a few episodes of her “Dating With Purpose” series, and I also followed the journey of her relationship, engagement, marriage, and now newborn baby girl. God will never give you a complete and detailed blueprint of what you are called to do (it may overwhelm you!), but He will show you step by step in a way that you need to be encouraged and sometimes that means linking you up (through the internets) with other believers that are doing similar work for His Kingdom. I’m so inspired by Ashley and her husband Carrington. Please take time to visit all of her links and see what she’s up to. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Ashley Empowers”

Fashion Friday: His and Hers Back to School

Beauty is all around us and our Creator has given us so much inspiration to work with. We all know that true beauty comes from the inside, but on Fashion Fridays we discover the latest fashion and beauty trends that help us to feel beautiful on the outside.

We think the question at the forefront of every student’s mind is: what do I wear for the first week of school? After the supplies are bought, the bags are packed, and the summer is coming to an end, some of you may be wondering how to mix and match your new jeans, tops, skirts, and dresses. We thought we’d scour Pinterest (one of our favorite things to do) so you don’t have to. Continue reading “Fashion Friday: His and Hers Back to School”

How I Made Meaningful Friendships on the First Day of School

This article was originally written in September of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)

For some of you, school is back in session. Have you asked the Lord for His help in making new friends? If you’re anything like me, you’re a ball of nerves when school starts. Making friends on the first day sometimes seemed impossible for me, and it took a while to get used to introducing myself and getting to know other teens. Honestly, my favorite part of the summer ending was shopping and overpacking my backpack with enough school supplies to last the entire year (I still over prepare). Some of my least favorite things were wondering if I’d get lost trying to find my class and who I would sit next to during lunch.
