Have you ever met someone and knew almost immediately that they were a world changer, and a force that wouldn’t let anyone or anything stand in their way? I felt this way upon my first encounter with Melinda Watts, the founder of G.L.A.M. Camp for Girls. I saw a model call for a photoshoot that was associated with this ministry and the Lord immediately said to submit my photo to them. It’s even interesting how that moment came to be because it was after browsing a few Instagram profiles that led me to media content creator Dr. Peace Amadi who was creative directing the photoshoot along with her friend and fashion blogger Seyi Famuyiwa. I have a special place in my heart for other women God leads to start ministries that focus on building up young ladies because I know they truly understand my calling to do the same. I could go on and on about Melinda, but I’d rather you see for yourself. Browse the website and check G.L.A.M. Camp out on their Instagram to see what they’re up to now. Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom

Our contributor Melissa has graciously allowed us to feature her writing with our readers. Stay tuned for more contributors in the future! This article was originally posted on MLove Life.

One thing is for certain, if you don’t have a strong community, your falls will be harder and trust me you will fall.  Having church, (no I don’t mean a building where people meet) has shown me so much about the love of God.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”-Ecclesiastes 4:10

After years of wondering this earth ‘completely’ alone, a time where I ‘left’ God for this world, I began to return my heart back to Him.   I surrendered on a bed of fear and withdrawals in my dark apartment on the beautiful California Street in San Francisco.   Continue reading “Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom”

My friend Alma sent me a direct message on Instagram a few days ago and said that someone from “How 2 Date God’s Way” would be in touch with me soon to get the scoop on me and my husband’s story from how we met to what it was like to be celibate during our dating process. One of our favorite things to talk about is how God used us–imperfect and flawed humans–to be an example of how two people can go against the grain in a culture that asks “people still save themselves for marriage?!”. We know we’re not the only ones who have this testimony, but when co-founder Nneka reached out to me, I browsed her and her husband’s Instagram page and realized that I have never come across a place that highlights couples across the globe in this way. I’m so glad to introduce this husband and wife duo to you, and I hope you’re inspired by their story. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with How 2 Date God’s Way”

The Standard Of Christianity

Have you ever been let down by a Brother or Sister in Christ who seemed to take advantage of the notion that every action and reaction is covered by grace? Are you the Christian who thinks you can do whatever you want and have no consequences because our God is a God of mercy? These thoughts have been bouncing around my head lately after being underwhelmed by some of my interactions with other believers in relationships, business, and daily life. I am not a perfect friend, family member, business partner, or person in general, but I do strive to be more like Christ every day. I believe that’s what God is expecting from us.

On a phone conversation with a friend, I was mentioning how I used to have this naivety about other Christians and felt that “We’re all believers, so we unquestionably have the same standards.” That rose-colored phrase has proven to be wrong time and time again. If it was so easy to live a holy life, everyone would do it. I’m open to seeing how I can be a better steward of this life. If you are as well, I’d love to share with you what I’ve learned so far. The more I learn about how our diet and lifestyle affect our health, the more grateful I am that God has placed some amazing and knowledgeable Christians in my life. Jamie Chan-Ortega of Oasis Healing Arts is one of those people. I remember having conversations with her about the misinformation that is out there about nutrition, and how our immune system will succeed or fail depending on how we feed it. I remember my younger days of surviving on fast food and thinking my Arizona Green Iced Tea was healthy. I was constantly fatigued and would catch any bug that was going around throughout the year. Thanks to friends like Jamie, my family hardly gets sick and–believe it or not–we don’t survive off of kale and green smoothies. Balance is the key to life, and I hope you check out more information that Oasis Healing Arts has to offer. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Oasis Healing Arts”

What Does it Mean to be a Proverbs 31 Woman?

What does it mean to have it all, do it all, and be everything to everyone? I don’t know, but it makes me tired just thinking about it. I think most Christian women have Proverbs 31 on a pedestal, but many of us are asking “How do I apply this to my life?”

I’m not an early riser and I don’t have female servants. I don’t own property (yet), neither do I wish to have a vineyard. You would think that this wife of noble character described in the bible is a busy-body, but we’ve learned in Luke 10:38-42 that sitting at the Lord’s feet is far more important than having your hands full. While looking through my list of people I wanted to promote through this website, I was shocked that I hadn’t gotten to my dear friend Amy Jean yet! She’s a painter, photographer, tattoo artist, wife, mother, and just all around amazing human being. So amazing in fact that she introduced me to my husband 8 years ago. I interviewed her on my personal webpage when I was doing a series that highlighted artist. And here we are again. The thing I admire about her the most is that she brings humor and joy everywhere she goes. Her laid back approach–which fits very well into her home of Hawaii–is a reminder that we all need to breathe every once in a while, forget the to-do list, and keep the important things of life a priority. I only know a few artists that excel in everything they put their hands to, and she is one of them. Follow her Instagram if you don’t believe me. How I Gained Confidence Through Christ

I get asked a lot “Have you always been this confident?” The truth is: NO WAY! It took me a long time to be the confident woman I am. I’ve struggled with identity issues and feeling insecure for many reasons (that I describe in this video). It wasn’t until my walk with God was solid that I found peace in who I was because I finally understood whose I was. It’s been a journey of self-discovery that I’m sure every human has to go through in order to walk confidently through life. I still find myself dabbling in comparison and doubt, but it’s not the all-consuming fire that it used to be.

Before starting my YouTube channel, me and my mother were doing research on other YouTubers with similar ideas, faith, and personality. My mom sent me a link to Ashley Empowers and I was hooked. I watched a few episodes of her “Dating With Purpose” series, and I also followed the journey of her relationship, engagement, marriage, and now newborn baby girl. God will never give you a complete and detailed blueprint of what you are called to do (it may overwhelm you!), but He will show you step by step in a way that you need to be encouraged and sometimes that means linking you up (through the internets) with other believers that are doing similar work for His Kingdom. I’m so inspired by Ashley and her husband Carrington. Please take time to visit all of her links and see what she’s up to. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Ashley Empowers”
