My Deep Sleep

Our contributor Rajeev has graciously allowed us to feature his writing with our readers. Stay tuned for more contributors in the future! This article was originally posted on Jeevo Music.

In the beginning, God created both man and woman.  He created the man first, but was thinking of the woman at the same exact time.  Creating the man first does not mean the man is more important – as some cultures and people would like to believe.  God created the man with specific voids.  Man needed God.  Man needed to work.  Man was alone.  Man needed something more.  Man was not satisfied with what he saw – the land, the garden, the animals, the sun, the moon – these were all great – but it did not quite seem whole.

The creation story happens before “the fall.”  This means when God said “It is not good for man to be alone,” He is revealing His profound intention.  Shalom.  Peace.  Reconciliation.  Between man and woman. Continue reading “My Deep Sleep”

Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?

This article was originally written in June of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

There is news in the media almost every week about someone famous calling it quits in their relationship, but it really gives me something to ponder when one of them says, “I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever.”

I can tell you with certainty that most of my friends, Christian or not, have been plagued by doubts that their relationship would survive. When reality set in a few months into my marriage and the sound of wedding bells began to fade, I was completely thrown off by the struggles we were already facing. What happened to the “honeymoon stage” or “wedded bliss”? Continue reading “Is Marriage Supposed to Last Forever?”

When Should You Move on From Your Crush?

This article was originally written in September of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Be strong, and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD. (Psalm 31:24)

I think many people fail to understand how emotionally invested teen girls and young 20-somethings are when it comes to dating. Simply forgetting about a guy isn’t so easy to do, depending on how long you’ve liked him or how close you two have been. I’ve had crushes that ranged from a few weeks up to a few years. I’m talking a “Dear Diary, my heart is breaking! Why doesn’t he like me?” type of thing. I’m sure we’ve all been there.

Although I don’t personally believe dating is necessary until you’re entering a life stage where you are marriage-minded, I know most of you are hoping to have a relationship soon. I’d like to share some tips on who to avoid in the meantime. I’ll also briefly describe what you can do to get through the tough task of moving on. Is God Trying to Get Your Attention?

This article was originally written in April of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

When I first found my home church, I wanted to be involved in everything 100 percent. I went to service on Sundays, had my small group meetings in the middle of the week, helped edit videos for the service, joined the dance team, volunteered my acting skills in the performing arts ministry and was about to join the choir. Is that calendar making your head spin or what?

Our overworked and overly busy society that takes pride in a full and color-coded calendar app has infiltrated the way we have church. It almost becomes more about the building than the body of Christ. Let’s make sure that our efforts of serving our Heavenly Father are balanced and coming from the right place. 5 Dating Mistakes To Avoid

This article was originally written in December of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

What are your motives for being in a relationship? Are you constantly checking in to make sure you’re in the right one? It takes a lot of effort to be romantically involved with another person, and it’s also a responsibility to do what it takes to keep it alive. If you’re like me, you would find it very helpful to have a playbook titled “Everything You Must Do to Find the One and Live Happily Ever After.”

No such thing exists, but here’s a start. I’d like to share five common mistakes that send relationships to an early grave. Continue reading “5 Dating Mistakes To Avoid”

When God Changes Your Dreams

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

I remember applying for college and thinking that I would major in business because I was told it’s a degree you can use in pretty much any career. In my dream, I would go on to get a master’s degree. Maybe even a doctorate, if I was feeling fancy. That all changed when I found out that I couldn’t afford to go to a major university. My parents made too much money to qualify for financial aid, and I didn’t want to take out a student loan that I’d be paying off for the rest of my life.

As a straight-A student, it was embarrassing to me that I had to apply at a local community college because that was all I could afford to do back then. As I submitted my paperwork, my family received a letter from my future community college, and in this letter they described their new Television Production program. My eyes lit up. In my senior year of high school, part of my curriculum was learning multimedia programs and producing visual content for the campus. I applied to the college program, loved every year of it and would you believe God paid all of my tuition! I never thought in a million years that I would be able to make a career in the entertainment industry, but to this day it’s how my husband and I make a living.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

I say all of this to make a point that sometimes it feels like everything is falling apart when, in actuality, everything is falling into place. I thought my grades made me. I figured my attention to detail, memory and quick mind would make me a great candidate to become a future CEO of someone else’s company. I had no idea that through the arts I would meet my husband, birth a ministry and reach fulfillment in God’s plan for my career.

Here are some things to remember when the walls start crumbling around you. It’s important to mention that this applies as long as you are in God’s will. That’s the only way He can guide you to the dream He has for you. Continue reading “When God Changes Your Dreams”

My Miscarriage Journey

I’ve shared in the past that I experienced a painful loss during my first pregnancy in 2013. There have been so many times that women have privately asked me for advice because they were experiencing a miscarriage or knew someone who was. I thought I would sit down in front of the camera and share the ins and outs of my experience because October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and October 15th is Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Day.

How My Faith Grew Between High School and College

This article was originally written in August of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8)

Some of you reading this are in junior high or high school, while others are embarking on the journey of college. Whatever your situation may be, God is going to grow your faith and exceed your wildest dreams as you draw close to Him on and off campus. As you desire to be in His will, He is able to get closer to you and bless you while affecting those around you for the better because of your obedience.

There is a maturity that comes from time with God and from going through various life stages. Know that your level of faith does not compare to anyone else’s, because you are the only you there is, but it should be consistently evolving. I’ve felt the changes going from high school to college to moving out to being married to becoming a mother, etc. Believe me, it never stops, and that is one of the most exciting things about God’s work in you.

I want to share some of the differences between having faith in high school and faith in college, and hopefully it will encourage you where you are and give you something to look forward to. Continue reading “How My Faith Grew Between High School and College”

What It Really Means To Be; “A Daughter Of The KING”

Our contributor Terry has graciously allowed us to feature her writing with our readers. Stay tuned for more contributors in the future! This article was originally posted on Loving L.I.F.E.

This morning I read that after an eleven year streak, the princess costume is no longer the number one favorite choice for Halloween. What has caused this change? I think there’s nothing wrong with calling our girls princesses, or encouraging them to dress as one, but let’s make sure they know the definition of a true princess. Generally the nick name, “Princess” is used to define a spoiled girl, dressed in glitter and fluff.
