Dime A Daisiee was founded by my friend Jami not too long ago. Even though her venture into baby clothing is recent, she’s been sewing since early childhood. I met her around the time I moved to Los Angeles in 2010, and I modeled for her retro pinup fashion line when she was still doing wedding and special occasion dresses and accessories. We’ve been friends since then, and I’m so happy to see her business evolve and grow and become more and more successful over time. I’m absolutely in love with her frilly lace rompers for babies as well as the simple, yet classic tiny pants with knee patches. If you’re a parent, know a parent, or are a photographer who specializes or dabbles in child portraits, please visit her website and see if there’s anything you need to “add to cart”. The Problem with Comparison

Comparison is the thief of joy. It robs us of our gratitude because we’re either too busy being envious of something we don’t have, or being prideful that what we do have is better than so-and-so’s. Remember the term “Keeping up with the Jones'”? (Do people still use that phrase?) You could see it as an endearing way of striving for “better” so that we don’t become content with “not good enough”. However, everyone’s “better” looks different. If you ask a group of people what success means to them, I bet it will be a different definition to each person.

I remember when I first moved to Los Angeles from Hawaii, and I thought “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I made it all the way here. I can’t believe I’m already working as an actress just weeks after I changed my address.” I felt pretty great about myself until the auditions started wearing on me. When you’re sitting in the waiting room eager for your name to be called, sometimes other actors in the room will start chit-chatting about their career or what they’ve been up to lately. He Loves Me

Our first ever contributor Khyra has a gift for writing poems, and has graciously allowed us to share them with our readers. Stay tuned for more contributors in the future!

He Loves Me

Jesus died for me.

He loves me.

My Father which art in Heaven came up with the perfect plan for me to able to abide with Him forever once my days on earth are up.

He loves me.

The Holy Spirit chose to leave His dwelling in Heavenly places and take up residency in me.

He convicts me of sin, He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake, he makes all my paths straight when I acknowledge Him in all my ways, He speaks to me, He lets me know gently when I have lost focus.

He loves me.

Jesus will destroy the option for me to be in a sticky situation if I allow Him to, if I am willing to listen.

He loves me.

He created the heavens and the earth, a place for me to dwell, He went before His disciples to prepare a place in Heaven for us.

He loves me.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.

He loves me.

Jesus protects me from the demons that prowl the earth, that have been given power over the flesh.

He loves me.

Jesus gave me another opportunity to do what is righteous, to choose Him, to choose love, and to choose godliness.

He loves me.

He loves me.

Oh, how He loves me.

In Love,

-Khyra L’amour

Promo Tuesday with Mary Conner

So many will say “The children are our future”, but how many will actually do what it takes to ensure they have a future worth living? I’m proud to share the work that my aunt Mary Conner has been doing lately. She just started a project titled “Campaign 13” and she is asking everyone to support her by purchasing one or more of her books. She has two titles out and is currently working on her third. The aim of these books is to answer some questions that parents or youth may have about the juvenile justice system. Most of us aren’t aware of our rights, and great power comes with the knowledge of understanding the government. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Mary Conner”

The Problem with Revenge

Mass shootings and innocent people losing their lives in the name of terrorism has always been something that’s hard for me to process. You see it in news headlines all the time, but I’ll never understand a human being thinking that another person’s life is worthless. Now that I’m a mother, it’s even harder to see news stories and online articles about bombings, school massacres, and gunmen opening fire in a public place.

One thing you hear often is “That person or group deserves to be murdered the same way they took the lives of those other people. I hope they rot in hell.”

It cuts me to my core to see that someone can take pleasure in the idea that a murderer might experience torment in hell for eternity. I say “might” because we have no idea where people will stand with Christ before they exhale their last breath. That’s how awesome God is! We are all sinners and none of us deserve to go to Heaven, but we have our whole lives to repent and turn to God. We should be so grateful for this, and wish for everyone to have this chance. Shirley

The writing bug has bitten a few members of my family, and my Aunt Shirley Alarie is the proud author of four non-fiction books. In the past few years (following a recovery from breast cancer), she’s been penning title after title, all in the hopes of helping others and providing resources through her personal experiences. To say she’s an inspirational writer is an understatement, and there are more books on the way that she’s currently developing with no sign of slowing down. You can purchase her latest book “A New Home for Dominick” here.
