In life, there are many

Brightly packaged moments

That if we let them,

Bring change

For me mine came

Before 12pm, last Saturday

Through the conduit of a phrase,

“Be faithful to your responsibilities”

Although, said in passing

And not directed at me

It stood out

Like the highlighted pages

In the good book you

Just couldn’t bring yourself to put down

It stood out

Like that twenty dollar bill

You found on the ground

And now want to tell everyone about

It stood out to me

The words tugged at my memories

Bringing back each memory

Of the times I said, “I’m sorry..”

“I’m sorry, I can’t make it,

I checked my schedule

and

Where your event should be,

There’s another in it’s placement”

Or how about, “I’m sorry..”

“I’m sorry, I’ll be late.

I stayed up until 3 this morning

Slept through my 6 am alarm

So I won’t be able to make

My 8

AM appointment.”

I never planned on

My poor planning

Or oversight

Being the sin that kept me up at night

Worrying about my reputation

But the fact is

I’m a representation

Of Christ

I know my God and

He’s “always on time”

One who plans things

While although busy

Still does all things right

“Be faithful to your responsibilities”

A phrase that when said

Reminded me

That my life and

My actions

Are seen differently

Through others reactions

So whether my excuses have actual validity

It was still me who you entrusted

To help plan your party

And whether or not I’m sorry

You bear the weight of

Me being tardy..

In life, there are many

Brightly packaged moments

That if we let them,

Bring change

For me mine came

Before 12pm, last Saturday

Through the conduit of a phrase,

“Be faithful to your responsibilities”

Although, said in passing

And not directed at me

It made me think

Think of a me that’s

Grown deep into maturity

Who’s gotten a strong hold

On her time management

Who’s reliable

And even though there’s much to do

She can manage it

The words tugged at my memories

Bringing back the memory of

The woman discussed in

Proverbs 31

She is a wife, and a mother

Yet, still has time for others

She works diligently

And handles her

24-hour block of time skillfully

She is impressive

I have plans to be like her

Plans to be excellent

The representation of Christ

That was originally meant

For me

I will be ..

Faithful to my responsibilities”

In Love,
