B-SweetZ Bakery is a new company, but you wouldn’t know it based on how many baked treats come flying out of Brandi’s home. Holiday parties, baby showers, and special events all call for special treats. You can get yours with hand lettering or printed images for that special person who has a birthday coming up. Check out her gallery of goods and contact her the next time your sweet tooth is tingling.

Dating with Intention

Can you imagine being a 17 year old girl and deciding that dating was “not for you”? I’ve talked to many people about the span of five years in my life that I chose not to date, but I thought it would be a good idea to expound upon that subject. I had a few boyfriends before I made this decision. I later realized that I chose to date those guys mostly because they pursued me, and my friends thought that I “should” date them because we were cute together or because I needed a boyfriend.

I first met Jennifer Sosa at a wedding in 2010 where she scurried around dressed in black, taking photos of the guests and wedding party during the reception. I never really understood the artistry of wedding photographers until I saw the photos she had taken uploaded onto social media. One of the photos I remember most was of the bride and groom in the reflection of water she found on site at the church. I was so used to the staged photography you see time and time again, and I had no idea photographers were “allowed” to experiment on someone’s wedding day. Her portfolio has grown and her style has become more defined since then. It’s hard to keep track of which city she’s in because her talents have her traveling for work often. The fact that she’s hilarious and down-to-earth is another reason to love this woman. From magazines, collaborations, and real-life events, you’ll see the way she paints her world when you visit her beautiful website. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Jennifer Sosa”

Promo Tuesday with Mary Conner

So many will say “The children are our future”, but how many will actually do what it takes to ensure they have a future worth living? I’m proud to share the work that my aunt Mary Conner has been doing lately. She just started a project titled “Campaign 13” and she is asking everyone to support her by purchasing one or more of her books. She has two titles out and is currently working on her third. The aim of these books is to answer some questions that parents or youth may have about the juvenile justice system. Most of us aren’t aware of our rights, and great power comes with the knowledge of understanding the government. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Mary Conner”

The Problem with Revenge

Mass shootings and innocent people losing their lives in the name of terrorism has always been something that’s hard for me to process. You see it in news headlines all the time, but I’ll never understand a human being thinking that another person’s life is worthless. Now that I’m a mother, it’s even harder to see news stories and online articles about bombings, school massacres, and gunmen opening fire in a public place.

One thing you hear often is “That person or group deserves to be murdered the same way they took the lives of those other people. I hope they rot in hell.”

It cuts me to my core to see that someone can take pleasure in the idea that a murderer might experience torment in hell for eternity. I say “might” because we have no idea where people will stand with Christ before they exhale their last breath. That’s how awesome God is! We are all sinners and none of us deserve to go to Heaven, but we have our whole lives to repent and turn to God. We should be so grateful for this, and wish for everyone to have this chance. Questions to Ask Before Walking Down the Aisle

We’re doing a series on dating and relationships. Join the conversation! Are there any specific topics you’d like us to write about? (This article was originally written in December of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!)

So you’ve found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. You have similar interests, you both love the Lord and you’re head over heels for your guy. What more do you need to know before you walk down the aisle?

A lot, actually. Just like a job interview, an employer would want to know that his or her prospective employee is properly qualified to fill the position.

Yes, it can be awkward to ask things you don’t really feel you have the right to know, but if you’re truly going to spend the rest of your lives together, there are some things you should inquire about in order to start off on the right foot. Premarital counseling will help with some of these, but not every couple goes though an intensive session that uncovers possible conflict-causing topics. You can ask these over dinner, during a walk at your favorite park or over the phone if that seems to cause less pressure and anxiety. Why Wait to Have Sex Until Marriage?

We’re doing a series on dating and relationships. Join the conversation! Are there any specific topics you’d like us to write about? (This article was originally written in July of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!)

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18)

I waited until I was married to have sex. In fact, I wore a purity ring for years that was eventually replaced by my engagement ring because I was sure that decision was the right one for me. It’s important to make this choice for yourself and not judge other people who haven’t done the same. I definitely had the desire to be intimate, as any young woman with a pulse might, so I was constantly asked why I was saving my virginity for my future husband.

This subject is a very personal one, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation for whatever you choose to do. However, if you feel the need to respond, it’s best to do it with the spotlight on yourself and your personal convictions instead of simply saying “Everyone should do this because God wants us to.” Keeping God’s commands is very important, but it’s also good to know and share the benefits of abiding by His word.
