Before starting my YouTube channel, me and my mother were doing research on other YouTubers with similar ideas, faith, and personality. My mom sent me a link to Ashley Empowers and I was hooked. I watched a few episodes of her “Dating With Purpose” series, and I also followed the journey of her relationship, engagement, marriage, and now newborn baby girl. God will never give you a complete and detailed blueprint of what you are called to do (it may overwhelm you!), but He will show you step by step in a way that you need to be encouraged and sometimes that means linking you up (through the internets) with other believers that are doing similar work for His Kingdom. I’m so inspired by Ashley and her husband Carrington. Please take time to visit all of her links and see what she’s up to. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Ashley Empowers”

A few months ago, I was asked by my friend Charity Watts to be a part of a photoshoot that would be featured on a new website that was launching soon. The premise was to get women prepared for marriage…but what does that mean? After asking many married friends how she could prepare for her future spouse, Miss Watts gained a wealth of knowledge. With that wealth of knowledge she felt the burden to share with other women who may be asking the same questions and having the same doubts about being ready. Charity is the perfect name for this kind-hearted soul whose first instinct is to give rather than receive. Sign up today on Wifey Ready for exclusive access and to be the first to see the pre-launch. Clothing, accessories, inspiration, testimonies, and events are just around the corner. It’s all going down on July 31st, 2016.

Here’s a little about her movement in her own words:

Do you remember the feeling of going into an exam calmly and confidently prepared VS. the feeling of going in nervous and sweaty because you weren’t prepared!? Those feelings can apply to almost every aspect of life! When we don’t take out time to plan, it’s easy to just let life, relationships, and situations happen, but with that comes results that just…..happen! Just like in school, the more you prepared for the big exam the better you did. How about taking a pro-active approach in preparing for the life you want, including marriage and being a wife!? You desire to be married, you desire to have a GREAT marriage….do YOUR part now in planning to become to the best future Mrs. [FILL IN THE BLANK] God has created and planned for YOU to be!

In Love,

I’ve been following She Paints Truth on social media for a while ever since my small group sisters told me about the awesome biblical daily encouragement they provide through art. It wasn’t until I saw a post from the founder Christie that I stopped in my tracks. Around the same time, we both posted about our walk with God and how He confirmed who our spouse was. Her story is a little different than mine, but the overall message is the same. After social media stalking her (I know I’m not the only one! Lol.), I thought it would be more than appropriate to give her a feature. I love what she’s doing in her personal testimony as well as her art platform to share the gospel. Check out her links and subscribe if you love Jesus, art, family, or all of the above. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with She Paints Truth”

Promo Tuesday with Couples Academy

Once in a while, my church would have an event called “The Marriage Encounter”. In a way, it was like a group couple’s therapy where married church members would come and ask questions about the ins and outs of intimacy, in-laws, raising children, infidelity, you name it. A few of those times we would have a session with Hasani and Danielle Pettiford of The Couples Academy. I always looked forward to their insight, and am so glad I can follow them online through their website and social media in order to keep getting that objective and educated advice about marriage. Even if you’re not married yet, now might be the best time to discover some great tools that will help you in the future. You may be surprised to know how the habits and relationships you have now will affect your future spouse for good…or for bad. The best part about this for me is that their advice comes from a biblical foundation because my faith is the number one aspect of my world view. I hope you are blessed by their knowledge and the information they freely give. Let me know what you think! Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Couples Academy”

How I Knew My Husband Was “The One”

I’ve been asked this question so many times by close friends and practical strangers: “How did you know your husband was the one you were supposed to marry?” A common answer–and I agree with this–is “When you know, you know.” There is a definite moment where it just clicks and you both realize “This is for forever.” It’s a concept that’s hard to grasp, and although I felt Jerrell was my future husband the first time we sat down alone and talked for hours, even I needed some reassurance.

It wasn’t until I took my romance to God that I really felt beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was time to prepare for marriage. As much as one could. Just like having kids, you never ever feel ready to be a husband or wife. You couldn’t possibly because there’s no way to rehearse it. I’ve even talked to couples who had lived together for years and felt like marriage was just a piece of paper, but once they tied the knot the experience and the security was noticeably different. Promo Tuesday with Team Married

If you ask any married couple about their relationship, they will tell you that it’s a lot of work. Successful marriages–and relationships in general–don’t just happen, they are cultivated. Something that is very important to me and my husband is finding other married friends who are committed to a healthy relationship, and who are willing to share the ups and downs of their journey and pray for our future as a couple. Tremell and Capitola Parker are a wonderful couple that we’ve been blessed to know for years. I could go on and on about the Godly advice they’ve given us and countless other married folk, but I’d rather you see for yourself. Watch the above video and others on their YouTube channel, and you’re sure to be blessed whether you’re single, dating, happily married, or hitting a rough patch. They’ve covered parenthood, date nights, fighting fair, celibacy, infidelity, and the important fellowship, among other things. Continue reading “Promo Tuesday with Team Married”

Dating with Intention

Can you imagine being a 17 year old girl and deciding that dating was “not for you”? I’ve talked to many people about the span of five years in my life that I chose not to date, but I thought it would be a good idea to expound upon that subject. I had a few boyfriends before I made this decision. I later realized that I chose to date those guys mostly because they pursued me, and my friends thought that I “should” date them because we were cute together or because I needed a boyfriend.

Questions to Ask Before Walking Down the Aisle

We’re doing a series on dating and relationships. Join the conversation! Are there any specific topics you’d like us to write about? (This article was originally written in December of 2015 for Project Inspired, a website that encourages Christian teenage girls all over the world. Thank you for reading!)

So you’ve found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. You have similar interests, you both love the Lord and you’re head over heels for your guy. What more do you need to know before you walk down the aisle?

A lot, actually. Just like a job interview, an employer would want to know that his or her prospective employee is properly qualified to fill the position.

Yes, it can be awkward to ask things you don’t really feel you have the right to know, but if you’re truly going to spend the rest of your lives together, there are some things you should inquire about in order to start off on the right foot. Premarital counseling will help with some of these, but not every couple goes though an intensive session that uncovers possible conflict-causing topics. You can ask these over dinner, during a walk at your favorite park or over the phone if that seems to cause less pressure and anxiety.
